A week ago, I lost a beautiful friend, a woman I met when I started my banking career who spoke with a strange accent. At the time, I didn’t know she was English … from Sheffield, England.
Marie returned to her homeland some years ago, but we remained friends. She was one of the most generous and supportive women I knew. She also helped me through a very difficult time in my life and got me drunk doing it too.
For always being such a kind heart, this one’s for you, dear friend, from a native son.

A touching tribute.
Thanks Tim,

<3 for your loss of a friend — beautiful is the world; you were able to make a lasting impression and so did Marie and that us the best gift to keep risking . . .

My dear Ms Baylee, you sure know how to pull the heart strings. That song by fellow Sheffielder, Joe Cocker, is one of my favourite songs from that man, who is a one off. What better tribute for a daughter of Sheffield, I can’t imagine.
I feel your grief too, and would like to offer you this token…
The threads that join two loyal hearts
and span an ocean of time,
from moments of forgotten art,
the echo of a rhyme
transcends the avalanche of pain,
that severed threads beget,
just as the golden leaves shall fall
this love shall not forget.
John,
Your poem is beautiful, truly. Thank you for sharing it. Marie was a unique person in many ways — kind, fun-loving, generous of spirit.
She’ll be missed,
eden

I am so sorry for your loss. This is a wonderful tribute.
Thanks Lisa,

My sympathies on the loss of your friend, Eden. This was a fitting and heartfelt tribute. I’m also reminded of another of Joe Cocker’s big songs. He was able to take the Beatles’ “With a little help from my friends” and turn it into something else entirely.
Agree Casey, few people can perform a song like Joe does. Thanks for your comment here,
eden
A beautiful song for a beautiful friend. May she rest in peace.
