100 Word Song ~ Landslide
It’s been a long time since I’ve entered to write for ”100 Word Song” at Lance’s My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog.
The rules are: Write a 100-word story inspired by a song.
This week’s song is Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”

I horked up a phlegmy gob and spit it in my hand. It jiggled like lime-green silly putty. An infection. Fuck. No surprise given two weeks without sleep to meet an impossible deadline. I popped a honey lozenge and sucked it against the roof of my mouth. Medicinal saliva coated my throat providing some relief, but not much.
My eyes watered as I reread the transcripts for the umpteenth time—witness testimony, family impact statements, defense and prosecution documents. Deciding life imprisonment or death for a fifteen-year-old child. What had become of our civilization?
The chokehold around my throat intensified.

HOT FLASH – A Smoking New Book Release
You may recall in September I planned to release an ebook of flash fiction and poetry by yearend.
I’m happy to announce my new book, Hot Flash is available today. Wheee!
It’s a collection of twenty erotic stories and poems, with two NON-erotic stories as well.
I wrote and read many of them for The Word Count Podcast by author, R.B. Wood. I’ve re-edited them with several other pieces and added three never-before-published works.
Erotic story: “A Lustful Encounter”
Erotic poem: “A Loose Leaf”
Non-erotic story: “My Grandfather’s Gift”
As the book is dedicated to my grandfather, I’m very proud to close the collection with a story about him. Originally written as part of a holiday anthology which never materialized, I’ve revised it and include it here. I’m thrilled the story has a home, and I know my grandfather would’ve approved.
My sincere thanks to JB Graphics for a SMOKING HOT cover. I hope you’ll pick up a copy of Hot Flash and enjoy it.

Yes, I know it’s not Monday, but my blog schedule is unimportant compared to the people who need help, so I’m posting this early.
My favorite song seems appropriate after the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Sandy last week.
