Inside the Author’s Mind – L.M. Stull

L.M. Stull is a fiercely dedicated writer. Through the Facebook group she has started called Fellow Writers, I’ve met some wonderful people who now have a place to network with other writers. Her warmth and supportive nature make the forum a great place for authors of all genres to share advice, ask for feedback, and showcase their work.

It’s now my pleasure to showcase the ever-delightful, L.M. Stull.

Originally a Washington DC native, L.M. Stull relocated to southern Virginia in 2005. She is very creative and a writer to her core. L.M. Stull works for attorneys during the day, but channels her inner creative monster at night and writes. This past year she completed her debut novel, Memoirs of a Monkey, which will be published and available Spring 2011.

Memoirs of a Monkey

Samantha Bowden was born and raised in the Nation’s Capital.  As a young, energetic writer, everything seemed to be going right in her world when she was offered a junior writing position in the Marketing Department of a very prestigious invention firm.  As she tries everything to get recognition from her new boss, it becomes apparent that most of the executives at You Name It, We Made It are not what they seem to be. Samantha sets off to find out what is going on, but will she regret learning about the creatures she calls coworkers?  In her quest to succeed in one of America’s deadliest offices, she finds herself on a hilarious, sexy and action-packed journey to find the truth of just about everything in her life.

Inside L.M. Stull’s mind

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Oh that’s easy! Delectable.  I seem to like to use that word way tooooo often.

What turns you on creatively? What turns me on?  How naughty…oh wait, you said creatively…right, um, a variety of factors really.  I have to say I love just sitting at a park or coffee shop and people watching.  Get A LOT of ideas from that.  I can also get pretty damn creative when I drink wine. 😉

What is your idea of perfect happiness? To curl up by the fire with a good book and cup of coffee (or wine).

What quality do you most admire in a man? Oh definitely a sense of humor. I am a total sucker for a guy who can make me laugh. 🙂  Of course, a cute butt doesn’t hurt either. 😉

What quality do you most admire in a woman? I would have to say the same, sense of humor (not the cute butt part).  I really can’t stand people who are too serious.  Life if too short, just laugh already.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Book store owner!  I do hope this will become a reality in the not too distant future.

If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? Um, me, because I totally rock. 😉  In all seriousness, a werewolf.  Is that an option? Cause I think I’d make a pretty hot one, don’t ya think?

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Hmmm, I would have to say my writing over this past year.  I really took charge of my life and went after what I wanted.

What is the trait you most deplore in others? Stuckupedness, is that a word?  Well, it is now!  No time for people who think they are all that and a bag of chips (with the exception of me, of course).

What is your present state of mind? Calm with a little bit of crazy.  I’m a pretty easy-going gal (unless you try and steal my wine or coffee, then you’re in trouble, hence the crazy part).

What is your favorite curse word? Fuck.  Who doesn’t like that word? I mean the possibilities for using it are endless!

What is your motto? Bob Marley said it best: Don’t Worry, Be Happy.  That’s my motto.

to get a revealing look at the person behind talented writer that I know as @lmstull on Twitter.
Lisa is one of my favorite writers on Twitter. She was kind of enough recently to interview me for her own blog about my novel and she’s very supportive of other writers.
I want to wish you good luck Lisa with your upcoming book release in April. I am very happy for you. Your novel sounds very intriguing. I am looking forward to reading it and interviewing you for my blog.
