A short time ago, several authors and I read a post that affected us deeply. It was about fellow writer and friend, Maxwell Cynn, whose 21-old son Joshua was diagnosed with leukemia.

You can read more about it on Max’s heart-wrenching post.

In a little over a week, a group of authors and artists have banded together to help raise money for Joshua to allay the costs of his treatment. Our goal is to collect $10,000 over the next four months as part of “Indies Unite for Joshua.”

I’ve listed all the wonderful authors who are donating their e-books, print books, and guest spots on their blogs. Some have donated multiple or unlimited copies. There are more contributions on the IndieGoGo site. The response has been phenomenal.

My sincere thanks to everyone who has been so generous on such short notice.

And because all great teams have mascots, this kick-ass baby embodies the spirit of Joshua and the people behind him.

On behalf of “Indies Unite for Joshua”, we’d like to say,

“You can beat this, Joshua, and we’re standing with you every step of the way. We also know you like Metallica.” 😉

Rock on young man,

We're all rooting for you!

Go to “Indies Unite for Joshua” and donate what you can.

Together, we can help Joshua, Max, and his family fight this horrible disease.

Use hashtag #IndiesUnite4Joshua in your tweets!

Please help us spread the word.

  2. I know you, Eden. This campaign will be a success! Max is one of the nicest writers I know and I really do feel the pain of his family. I also feel the faith and know Joshua will come out of this and become a great man! I know this is true.

It will be a pleasure to help and watch good thing happen because of all the love we have as a family of writers!

  3. Good luck, Eden. I wrote a post in support of your quest. Max and his family are in my thoughts.

I made a contribution and would like the book by Steven M. Grant, but not sure how to pick it out. Please let me know. Thanks.

    • Hi Sue, thanks so much. Steven will be thrilled to know you’ve chosen his excellent book of poetry. All the perks are redeemed at the end of the campaign. As you can appreciate, there are many books to keep track of, so it’s easier to do it all at once. I will make a note that’s the one you want. In the meantime, he has an amazing blog where he posts poetry and stories if you’d like to read. It’s linked to his name in the chart above or here is the site:

Thanks again for your contribution. xoxo

  6. Eden, is it too late for this Rock Fiction author to jump in and offer an e-book or two? I needed to help even before I saw the baby with the Metallica logo on his arm. (That’s slick, btw. Kid’s parents have excellent taste.)

  7. Eden, it’s a wonderful job you’re doing for a good cause. I know Max and his family will benefit from your good deeds, and Joshua will feel the love and support from you and many indie authors.

Let’s hope that the campaign will be a great success – my thoughts and prayers are with Joshua and his family, and you, as a shining example of indie authors, have my greatest respect and admiration.

Will do all I can to promote what you have started!

    • Junying, thanks for your unwavering support. I just got the ball rolling — the rest of the community came together in spades. Thank you for all you’re doing and your contributions too.
