Music Monday and Changes ~ #DavidBowie

I mentioned David Bowie’s song, “Changes” for a blog in 2014 but never included it in my Music Monday posts—until now. It’s my all-time favorite Bowie song for so many reasons but mainly because its lyrics speak to me.

“… I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same …

I said that time may change me
But I can’t trace time”

The words remind us that change is truly life’s only constant, and it’s important we make the best of the time we have.

After covering Bowie’s music every Monday since his death, I’m moving on next week to something different. Bowie’s music has filled my spirit, and I’m sure he’d understand it’s time for a change. 😉

Have a wonderful end of February and a great start to a new month,

  1. Fitting lyrics, and a good one to end the series on.

  2. Thanks William, I think so too xo

  3. Another great song. I wonder what, if any, similarities there are in writing the lyrics for a song and writing a story or poem. It must be a struggle trying to find the right words to capture the emotion.

    • Hi, I would think song writing is similar to writing a poem as you need to express emotion with fewer words than prose, then you have to add music and melody. I think it’s a difficult craft and Bowie did it so well. 🙂
