Music Monday and Brian Jones

Last week, I blogged about Amy Winehouse who passed away July 23, 2011 at the age of 27.

She is one in a long line of musicians who belong to the “Club of 27.” It’s uncanny how many of the greats died at that age. Over the next weeks, I’ll revisit their music, which fortunately did not die with them.

Here’s “Ruby Tuesday” with the Rolling Stones, and Brian Jones on the flute.

He passed away July 3, 1969.

Hope you have a sunny week ahead,

Music Monday says You Can’t Always Get What You Want

I’ve been providing clues to my new book for weeks now, and guess what? This is the final clue.

You know what that means, right? I’ve finished writing the book! 😀

I’m excited, SUPER excited! Next steps: The manuscript goes to my wonderful editor, Annetta Ribken, and the amazing JB Graphics will design the cover and create a new book website for me.

It’s been a long haul. There is still so much to do, but for now, I just want to breathe and thank everyone who has been so patient, loving, and supportive during my writing process. I am thrilled with the book, and I hope you will be too.

Look for more information about my book in future blogs, including book title, release date details, marketing, and more.

As for this song by the Rolling Stones … it’s one of my favorites, and a perfect final clue.

Big love

” … I saw her today at the reception
In her glass was a bleeding man
She was practised in the art of deception
I could tell by her blood-stained hands

Oh, you can’t always get what you want
Oh, you can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometime
You just might find
You get what you need …”

Here were previous weeks’ song clues:

The Tide Is High | Crazy | Coconut | Mad World

Something | You’re So Vain | It’s Probably Me

Windmills of Your Mind | She’s Always a Woman

If you want to read other genres I write: erotica/romance, flash fiction, and short stories with a twist, check out the selection.

Gimme Shelter by @Playing4Change

I featured Playing for Change’s “Stand by Me” when we did the fundraiser, Indies Unite for Joshua last year.

Here’s their version of one of my favorite Stones songs. It reminds me we’re in below freezing temperatures in Toronto, and I’m grateful to have a roof over my head.

Learn more about Playing for Change, an excellent foundation using multimedia to unite musicians from around the world for good causes.

Musical Mondays – The Rolling Stones

“Let’s Spend the Night Together” concludes this month’s theme of “night,” and ironically, when the song was first performed in America on the Ed Sullivan Show, the word “night” could not be said on air.  Instead, they had to say “Let’s spend some time together.”

It’s hilarious watching Mick singing and rolling his eyes!  Enjoy the lovely Englishmen.

Stay sexy,

Musical Mondays – “I’m a Man”

I thought it fitting to start off the first Musical Mondays’ post in February with a song about being a man. It is, after all, Marvelous Male Month, and I love heavy testosterone-driven songs.

I’m also a fan of raw lyrics, and this song certainly has that. Backing up the legendary Muddy Waters are the Rolling Stones.

Enjoy and stay sexy,
